Officer Luisa Fernanda Urrea became a news celebrity overnight, when she saved a baby’s life with a rare act of kindness. A woman who was gathering oranges in a Columbian forest heard a noise which resembled a baby’s cry. When she found the source of the noise, she was horrified: it was a newborn baby. Her mother had abandoned her in the forest, leaving the baby there to die.
Officer Urrea responded to the call of the woman who found the baby. She too was amazed to discover the newborn, who had the umbilical cord still attached. The baby was crying from hunger. Urrea, who is a young mother herself, decided to save the baby’s life, so she breastfed the little girl. Her act saved the girl’s life.
A video showing officer Urrea breastfeeding the newborn was posted on social media and it immediately went viral. The young mother is now admired by people all around the world for her kindness. Luisa Fernanda Urrea is now a hero, one that doesn’t wear a cape, but just saved a life.
